Patricia O’Donnell passed away in Jeffery Hale Hospital, Quebec City, after a battle with cancer, on Feb. 20, 2018, at age 79.

Born on May 26, 1938, she was the daughter of Parkyn O’Donnell and Mary Edna Farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Mary (David Todd) and Barbara (James Morrissey), her niece Anita Morrissey and nephew Ron Morrissey.

She is survived by her sister Anne (Sheldon Phaneuf), nieces Micheline and Ingrid, nephews James Jr., Kenneth and Sheldon Phaneuf Jr., and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Patricia was a devoted teacher of English as a second language in Quebec City for 40 years. She enjoyed the numerous exchange trips she made with her francophone students. She loved travelling and always had a story to tell.

Upon retirement, Patricia took up volunteer driving of seniors for many years. She also translated and recorded audio books for the blind. She loved cats and dogs, rescued many of them and thoroughly enjoyed participating in obedience training and zootherapy.

She was an avid reader, had a passion for history, loved theater, and participated in a number of St. Patrick’s Day soirées in her younger days. She sang with many choirs in Quebec City, especially during the Christmas season.

She considered that she had lived a rich life.

Very special thanks to Monique Fournier, who attended to Patricia’s needs as her health declined in recent years, as well as the staff of the palliative care unit at Jeffery Hale Hospital, who made her last days a blessing.

Details of her funeral will be announced at a later date.
