Quebec City billet families keeping the Peewee Tournament running smoothly!

As Bonhomme Carnaval prepares to bring down the curtain on the world’s largest winter festival, hockey players begin their annual pilgrimage to the Mecca of Peewee Hockey which takes place at the Pepsi Collisée from February 10 to 20. The Quebec International Peewee Tournament has been called the greatest event in minor hockey history.

Expectations were high this year for the Senior Blazers soccer team of Quebec High School as they went to the finals while also playing host to the regional championships on their home field against the St-Jean Eudes Condors.

After an impressive 4-1 win in the semifinals over St. Louis, fans and players were eager for an exciting match last week.

The Laval Rouge et Or are Quebec University Football champions again.

The Rouge et Or Sunday at PEPS Stadium in Ste. Foy assured themselves the conference title and home field advantage throughout the playoffs with an easy 62-0 win over the second place Bishop's University Gaiters.

Champlain St. Lawrence Honors Student-Athletes

The Champlain St. Lawrence College Athletics Department has announced its list of 71 athletes who were able to maintain an 80 percent average or better in school while lettering for the Lions in the Winter 2010 semester. The name of each athlete is followed by the sport he or she plays and the school they attended before arriving at Champlain St. Lawrence.

One team, the Gary, Indiana Steelheads of the old Continental Basketball Association, folded just before it was to start the 2006 playoffs. A second team, the Wichita Kansas Bombers of the All-American Professional Basketball League, didn't get nearly that far in 2005, the entire league going under following a pre-season tryout camp in Montana.

St. Lawrence Hockey: Perfect record in September

In a one-sided offensive surge, the St. Lawrence Lions men's hockey team recorded an 8-3 victory over College Lionel-Groulx. After opening the season with two consecutive wins on home ice, the Lions lead the standings of the Quebec Provincial Collegiate Hockey League.

Big league hockey on the city’s mind last weekend

Big league hockey of sorts returned to the city over the weekend with a preseason game between the Montreal Canadiens and a team masquerading as the New York Islanders at Le Colisee.

The game drew a sellout crowd of over 15,000.

Fourth shutout in five games enables SLC win over CEGEP Jonquière

Betchi Nkodo's second half strike put the finishing touches on a 2-0 win for St. Lawrence College men's soccer team over CEGEP Jonquière. Brice Aminou scored a lucky first goal for the Lions, who received another another shutout for goalkeeper Justin Savoie and his defence.

Lady Lions fall short despite valiant effort

After actually taking a 2-1 lead near end of the first half, the Champlain St. Lawrence College Lady Lions gave up four consecutive goals, bowing 5-2 to their more experienced opponents from CEGEP Ste. Foy in their inaugural match.

The match was the first for a women's soccer team from SLC in 18 years.
