St. Lawrence hockey Lions are one win away from the final

The St. Lawrence Lions are just one win away from the hockey final in the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) .

Mathieu Gosselin’s goal, 16 minutes into the second overtime, gave the Lions a 2-1 win over the Champlain-Lennoxville College Cougars at last Sunday’s game in Sherbrooke.

The Cougars took an 1-0 lead when Louis Lacelle-Webster scored at 17:57 of the first period.

St. Patrick’s High School team to play in provincial Prep School Hockey League in 2017-18

What was announced by the Central Quebec School Board (CQSB) a few weeks ago, has now been confirmed.

St. Patrick’s High School will field a team in the newest and trendiest hockey league in the province of Quebec, the Ligue de Hockey Préparatoire Scolaire (LHPS).

At the league’s general assembly in February, the Fighting Irish was one of four schools to be admitted to the LHPS.

What a spectacular weekend for the finals of the Fédération Internationale du Ski (FIS) Cross-Country Ski World Cup! The event had all the markings of a festival in Old Quebec, combining a popular international sport with local heroes and winners. The weather and the racecourses could not have been better, a silver lining from last week’s big snowstorm.

The fifth annual Valcartier International Dog Sled Races were held at Village Vacances Valcartier last weekend. Nothing was missing from the well-orchestrated event: the weather was beautiful, the scenery was spectacular, there was lots of snow, a food truck, plenty of parking spaces, games for the children, and the mascots Ti-Loup, Loulou and Louloutre entertained everyone.

St. Lawrence Lions hockey team took a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec quarterfinals, with a 5-4 victory over the Lauréats of Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe last Saturday.

Mathieu Gosselin’s goal, his third of the game, 34 seconds into overtime, gave the win to the Lions.

Steven Cox among the top 25 in the world

It has been quite an interesting season for ice cross downhill skaters and Quebec’s own Steven Cox. Bill Cox, of the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, is his grandfather.

Throughout the year, the QCT has followed Steven’s career as he competed in Europe and in North America in the Red Bull Crashed Ice season.

Alex Harvey and 150 international skiers coming to Quebec City

World champion cross-country skier Alex Harvey and more than 150 athletes from 15 countries will be racing in the Fédération Internationale du Ski (FIS) World Cup Finals on the Plains of Abraham March 17 to 19.

Beautiful weather for the 13th Pentathlon des Neiges

Winter athletes competing in Quebec’s 13th Pentathlon des Neiges had perfect weather conditions on the second and final weekend of the event. During the races held from February 25 to March 5, amateurs, families and friends took advantage of their Spring Break to participate in the five sports on the Plains of Abraham.

On February 25, Quebecers woke up to ice-covered trees, cars, roads, fences and snow, but this didn’t stop winter enthusiasts from grabbing their skates and heading to the Plains of Abraham for the 13th annual Pentathlon des Neiges.
