There is nothing left of this row of ash trees but the stumps on Rue De Maisonneuve. New trees will soon be planted to replace them.

The city’s war on the emerald ash borer continues. Environment department workers have cut down dozens of trees on the past two weeks in an effort to stem the spread of the parasite insect. The row pictured at left is on Rue de Maisonneuve across from St. Patrick’s High School. A city official said some 150 ashes are being cut this spring while the insect is inactive.
