Fighting Irish juniors capture regular season football banner with win

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish junior football team completed the regular season undefeated by edging the Laser from Les Sentiers (Charlesbourg) 27-25 on Oct. 21 on the Plains of Abraham field, handing the Laser its first loss of the season. The win gives the junior team its first regular season title since 2012 and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Moroccan Mohamed Aagab and Quebec athlete Caroline Poitras won the 2018 Marathon SSQ Québec on Oct. 14. They were two of 1,317 runners to complete the 42.2 km. 

A difficult week for the Lions sports teams

Laval crushes McGill to stay undefeated

The Université Laval Rouge et Or football team is on a mission. Their goal is to win the next Vanier Cup, the U Sports championship, and they won’t take their proverbial foot off the gas pedal until the job is done.

On Oct. 13, head coach Glen Constantin took his team on the road to Montreal to face the McGill University Redmen, who are also fighting for a playoff spot.

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish junior football team continued their winning ways on Oct. 12.

St. Pat’s went to Beauport to play the Centaures from École secondaire La Courvilloise in a Friday Night Lights-style matchup. The Fighting Irish did not disappoint, taking care of the Centaures with a decisive 30-15 win.

The CEGEP Champlain-St. Lawrence hockey team split a pair of games in Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) college conference action on Oct. 5 and 6.

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish junior football team is on an incredible journey. The Irish went to Chicoutimi on Oct. 5, and crushed the École secondaire L’Odyssée-Lafontaine Mustangs 49-6.

Laval hands Carabins second loss with overtime thriller

David Côté’s overtime 12-yard field goal was all the Université Laval Rouge et Or football team needed to squeeze out a 18-15 win over the Université de Montréal (UdeM) Carabins on Oct. 7. It’s the second time this year that the Rouge et Or beat the Carabins, after a September meeting.

St. Patrick’s High grad Edward Godin finally sees CFL action

The first St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish football program graduate in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Edward Godin, is finally seeing some action with the BC Lions. Godin dressed for his first game on Sept. 14, against the Alouettes in Montreal.

Laval football, women’s rugby teams feast on Concordia Stingers

The Université Laval football and women’s rugby teams had a double date with the Concordia University Stingers over the past weekend in Montreal. Instead of having a crush on them, the Rouge et Or handed the Stingers two crushing defeats.
