Maison Pollack, on Grande Allée in the heart of the Montcalm district, has been left to deteriorate over the past many years. The imposing front balcony, supported by six columns, would be in danger of collapse if it weren’t for the temporary scaffolding holding it up.

The Ville de Québec recently announced it will begin procedures for acquiring, by mutual agreement or by expropriation, the Îlot Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, located at the corner of Côte d’Abraham and Avenue Honoré-Mercier, and Maison Pollack, situated at 1 Grande Allée Est.
