Mourning the loss of the Humboldt Broncos

The words to Tom Cochrane’s “Big League” took on an eerie significance this past weekend as the entire country mourned the loss of several members of a Saskatchewan hockey team, killed in a crash on their way to a playoff game. Fifteen people on the team bus died, and the other 14 were injured, some critically.

Sparkling costumes. Incredible vocals. Tightly executed choreography. As audience members watching a theatrical performance, we appreciate the final product. We may wonder how many hours went into making the show a reality, although only by taking part in the preparations can one truly appreciate the months of hard work required.

If you dream of having your own home on wheels, a visit to the annual Quebec City Recreational Vehicle Show is an absolute must. This year’s show of mini rolling homes was held from March 22 to 25 at ExpoCité. The show was separated into three themes: vehicles, camping gear and accessories, and places to visit.

Tickets may be ordered online at quebecartcompany.com. TICKETS FOR THE APRIL 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 performances are SOLD OUT! A few tickets remain for the Opening Night performance on April 12.

English and French language speakers come together to perform with the QAC

The Quebec Art Company (QAC) and its community theatre performances are well known in the English-speaking community of Quebec City. Serving as both a creative outlet and a social gathering place for anglophones in the city, the company has put on at least one English-language play or musical each year for the last 40 years.

Compensation for cadets in 1974 Valcartier grenade accident

On July 30, 1974, [at CFB Valcartier] a roomful of 137 cadets was learning about the handling of explosive devices when a live grenade (accidentally included with the dummies) exploded, killing six cadets and seriously injuring 54 others, although over 90 were seen by emergency personnel that day.

Trivia Night at Quebec High School!

Young entrepreneurs recognized at St. Lawrence

Young entrepreneurs gathered at CEGEP Champlain-St. Lawrence on April 4 to enjoy a cocktail reception followed by a panel discussion featuring four businesspeople.

The results of the 20th OSEntreprendre Challenge, a provincewide entrepreneurial skills competition which attracts over 40,000 participants yearly, were announced at the end of the evening.
