VEQ Happy Holiday Hour spreads Christmas cheer
Voice of English-speaking Quebec (VEQ) hosted their annual Happy Holiday Hour (maybe we can call it the Ha-Ho-Ho...?) in the Morrin Centre's College Hall on Wednesday, December 7. A buffet table laden with cheeses, pâtés, crackers and desserts awaited hungry party-goers.
Local high school principals gaoled!
December 7, 2016, will be a day that St. Patrick's High School and Quebec High School principals André Gosselin and Warren Thomson will not forget. After being served with arrest warrants, both men were led into the bowels of the historic Morrin Centre prison.

The Hour of Code in a D.D.O. classroom
From December 5 to 11, an international movement called Hour of Code was held around the world. Now in its third year, the Hour of Code takes place during Computer Science Education Week, but it can be hosted any time. Over 300 million people have participated to date, at least 10% of students worldwide.

"We have a meeting once a month at different places," says Mélany Côté, who is in charge of pug events like this one in Quebec City. "There's a pug group in Montreal as well, and sometimes we ALL get together."

Handel’s Messiah never more glorious
The Violons du Roy, four soloists and the Chapelle de Québec directed by Bernard Labadie gave a breath-taking performance of George Frideric Handel's immortal Messiah at the Palais Montcalm last Thursday and Friday. Members of the audience felt as if they had been transported to another space and time by the orchestra, the soloists and the 30-voice choir.

Christmas is a holiday that everybody should enjoy. That's why Cycle 3 students at Ste-Foy Elementary School have been working on making Christmas cards with recycled products such as old advertising flyers, gift wrapping paper and newspapers.
Steven Cox prepares for the 2017 Crashed Ice circuit
If you live in Quebec City, when the famous Red Bull Crashed Ice comes to town, it's hard to miss. Maybe you've even seen it in person. Created by the Austrian energy drink company, the event was first held in Stockhölm, Sweden, in 2001, and was won by Swedish skater Jasper Felder. In fact, Felder won the first six Crashed Ice races, also called ice cross downhill.
