Many Quebec City locals, including yours truly and my partner in life, took advantage of the offer of the Association des Guides touristiques de Québec (AGTQ, Québec City Professional Tour Guides Association) to go on a guided walking tour and explore our city. 

Saint Brigid’s Home celebrates the harvest season

On September 10, Saint Brigid’s Home Residents’ Committee hosted its first Fall Harvest and Gratitude Fest. More than 120 residents, family and friends gathered in the courtyard for a delightful afternoon of music, songs, drinks and sandwiches. The new Fest is a change from the Fall Corn Roast of past years. 

The Heirs of War at the Quebec Naval Museum

The Quebec Naval Museum at Pointe à Carcy officially inaugurated its latest exhibit on September 8. Entitled The Heirs of War, it focuses on the impact the Second World War had on the lives of Canadian Naval officers and servicemen and servicewomen and their families.

The story behind Rue Philippon

Rue Philippon is named in honour of Horace Philippon (1900-1956), who was born in Saint-Évariste-de-Forsyth in the Beauce. He studied at the Séminaire de Québec then at the law faculty of Université Laval. He was admitted to the Bar in 1925 and practised law until his death. 

Celebrating the philanthropy of Jeffery Hale

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Jeffery Hale Hospital, a ceremony in Jeffery Hale’s memory was held at Mount Hermon Cemetery on September 8. Sheltered from the rain under large tents, some 200 people gathered near the Hale monument in the lower level of the cemetery.

On September 8, at the Coin Soleil of Jeffery Hale Hospital, the Voice of English-speaking Quebec welcomed newcomers to a special Meet and Greet offering a taste of typical Quebec cuisine.
