Elaine and Danny Neville will be honoured at this year’s Shannon Irish Show for their many years of dedication to seeing that the show ran smoothly, both onstage and off.

Two key jobs to a great Shannon Irish Show are the stage manager and the MC. The Catholic Women’s League of Shannon, the sponsor of the show, is proud to be honouring not one, but two such people at this year’s show.

Danny Neville was the stage manager for 20 years, beginning in 1977. His wife Elaine Neville took over the MC position in 1994 and was in front of the curtain for some 12 years.

Both Danny and Elaine said they loved doing what they did at the Irish Show. Danny fancied being behind the curtains (and not performing). “I got to work with wonderful friends and meet so many great people,” Danny explained. Elaine’s job as MC was to introduce each act as it came on and also to entertain the audience with jokes as the scenery and performers were changing behind the curtains. When asked if she was nervous, Elaine said, “No, I was never nervous. I loved seeing the audience’s reactions. I loved their laughter.”

Both Elaine and Danny made their job look effortless, and we thank them both for being part of the show for so many years.

The Shannon Irish Show takes place this coming Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the presentations to Elaine and Danny at the evening show.
