Illumination

On Wednesday evening this city was generally and brilliantly illuminated in honour of His Majesty’s Coronation.* The illumination extended to every part of Upper and Lower Town, St. Roch, St. John and St. Louis suburbs and even partially by Point Levis. The Castle and the Court House, Jesuit Barracks, Bishop’s Palace, the Seminary, and all the public places in this section participated in the general brilliancy. … At eight o’clock, the time fixed for the illumination, there was a display of fireworks on the Esplanade, which continued about an hour and attracted an immense concourse of people.
