St. Patrick’s activities in Quebec City – March 15 to 22
March 26 at 7 p.m. – The Literary and Historical Society of Quebec will hold its 201st Annual General Meeting in College Hall of the Morrin Centre at 44 Chaussée des Écossais. All are welcome.
March 26 at 7:30 p.m. – The Club Musical de Québec presents Swedish clarinettist Martin Fröst, French viola player Antoine Tamestit and Israeli-American pianist Shai Wosner who will unite their musical talents to present a program focusing on dance and its roots in folklore, at the Palais Montcalm. March 27 at 8 p.m. – The FILMharmonic orchestra, directed by Francis Choinière presents Bond Symphonic bringing the legendary sounds of 007 to life like never before at the Grand Théâtre. Iconic scores from Bond classics such as From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball and Skyfall will be enhanced by soloists Rose Naggar-Tremblay and Sam Champagne as scenes from the films are projected above the orchestra. March 28 at 7 p.m. – It’s Classic Movie Night at Chalmers-Wesley United Church, 78 Rue Ste-Ursule in Old Québec. This month’s film is the 1957 American drama film Zero Hour! starring Dana Andrews, Linda Darnell and Sterling Hayden. Admission $5. The side door (off parking lot) opens at 6:30 p.m. with cartoons and newsreels of the day. All are welcome. Freshly popped corn, soft drinks and candy available before and during intermission.
March 28 at 7:30 p.m. – The Ensemble L’Harmonie des Saisons presents Méditations et Lamentations by Bach and Buxtehude at Église St-Dominique, 175 Grande Allée Ouest. Directed by Mélisande Corriveau and Eric Milnes with soloists, a vocal ensemble and chamber orchestra on period instruments. For details and tickets, visit harmoniedessaisons.org.
March 28 at 7:30 p.m. – Le Printemps Symphonique, a fundraiser for the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec that includes a concert directed by Clemens Schuldt with guest soloist Bruno Pelletier, a cocktail dînatoire and silent auction, takes place at the Château Frontenac. March 29 at 7:30 p.m. – Les Rhapsodes choir, directed by David Rompré, presents Lux Aeterna with Théodore Dubois’ masterpiece, Les Sept Paroles du Christ. The choir will be joined by mezzo-soprano Luce Vachon, tenor David Souza and baritone Michel Desbiens, accompanied by organist Marc D’Anjou and a musical ensemble, at the Palais Montcalm.
