Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 265 celebrated Canada Day on July 1. For the record, every year several events are held to commemorate an important milestone in our country’s history. It was on July 1, 1867, that three British North American provinces – the Province of Canada (now Quebec and Ontario), Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, were united into one federation called the Dominion of Canada. The ceremony, held at the branch office, began with a parade, followed by the raising of the flag. Participants were then invited to share grilled meats and the traditional Canada Day cake.
