Audition call for the Quebec Art Company’s fall production of the classic musical "Fiddler on the Roof"

The Quebec Art Company, fresh from the smash success of Jesus Christ Superstar in April 2018, has embarked on its next ambitious musical project, the powerful and moving classic, Fiddler on the Roof, book by Joseph Stein, lyrics by Sheldon Stein and music by Jerry Bock

Since it opened on Broadway in 1964, Fiddler has captivated audiences with its story of the poor dairyman Tevye, his wife Golde, their five daughters, and the Jewish village of Anatevka, in Russian Ukraine, during the turbulent period leading up to the Russian Revolution. The narrative of innocent people uprooted from their homes in the name of political ideology or religious bigotry is one that transcends time. Though the tale is a sad one, it is laced with joyful celebration, much love, and ample bursts of humour.
Performances are to take place at CEGEP Champlain‒St. Lawrence on Nov. 21 to 24 and 28 to 30.

Auditions for principal roles as well as ensemble will be held at Holland School, 940 Rue Ernest-Gagnon, on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, March 3, starting at 11 a.m.

Fiddler has a large cast, including a chorus, which is called upon to sing many songs and dance in some sequences. Just about everyone gets a solo line or two. The age range is particularly wide, from young teens to seniors.

You need not have experience in performance, singing in public, or dance. The QAC is looking for people whose primary motivation is the joy and fun of working together to stage a high-quality community theatre production.
We are also looking for eager people to be involved in the many backstage roles necessary to put on a show.

Audition registration, details on roles and expectations for the auditions are posted on the QAC website,
