Barbara Alice Davey MacMILLAN

Barbara Alice Davey MacMillan, beloved wife of the late Cameron James MacMillan, died at Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins (BMP) Hospital in Cowansville, Quebec, on Oct. 4, 2020 (not Sept. 4 as was published in the print edition), at the age of 91. Loved dearly by her mother Alice and father Wilfred, she was predeceased by her brother John and her sister Katherine.
Barbara was born and brought up in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She studied and practised nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal before marrying Cameron in 1952. They raised their three daughters, Ann, Cynthia and Susan, in Quebec City.
Barbara worked in the maternity ward at Jeffery Hale Hospital for many years. She always claimed the maternity ward was the happiest place to work in a hospital. She kept herself busy with bridge, friends, parties, worshipping the sun, countless adventures at Barbara’s Folly in Nova Scotia and trips to California to visit her eldest daughter and family.
Over two years ago, Barbara moved to the Eastern Townships to be closer to her family in Granby and Ottawa. She always wished that she could have returned to the wonderful times she had spent in Quebec City.
Barbara was predeceased by the third of her four daughters, who was stillborn at BMP Hospital in 1957.
She was the beloved mother of Ann (Eric MacBean), Cynthia (Richard Bélisle) and Susan. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren and their partners: Anthony (Kassandre), Justin, Kate (Alex), Corey (Sheena) and Todd (Erika); and two great-grandsons, Édouard and Carter. She leaves many friends and other family members.
Thanks to the excellent care given in palliative care at BMP Hospital.
A private interment will be held at Mount Hermon Cemetery in Quebec City at a later date.
