La Brigade des incendies by Hidora Lebel (c. 1900) is on display at the Musée de la Civilisation. It is one of many artifacts demonstrating the importance of firefighters in society and how primitive the service was in the 19th century.

A new exhibit at the Musée de la Civilisation (MCQ) celebrates 250 years of firefighting by the Service de protection contre l’incendie de la Ville de Québec (SPIVQ). The recently inaugurated exhibit shows the public what it was like to fight fires in 1769 with little or no training or equipment, compared to today’s modern apparatus.
