Christopher Donald Frank ROSS
Feb. 6, 1942 - Aug. 5, 2020

Chris slipped away peacefully at home on top of the hill near Rockland, Ontario after 10 months of chondrosarcoma (bone cancer), surrounded by family and friends. We were able to care for him thanks to palliative-care doctors Daniel Vincent and Richard Plantive, nurses from Saint Elizabeth Health Care, personal support workers from three agencies and an OT.
He is immensely missed by his wife of 51 years Elspeth, sons Jason and Louis, daughter Lindsey of Saskatoon and granddaughters Octavia and Samantha; loving sisters Andrea O’Rourke of Calgary and Diana Banks (Dan) of Baddeck, Nova Scotia; nieces Alex O’Rourke (Shaun Aimoto) of Calgary and Isobel Fairway (Nick) of England; nephew Ross O’Rourke (Sara) of Cochrane, Alberta and eight grandnieces and nephews: Rose, Willow, Robyn (Fairway), Jordan, Evan, Jesse (O’Rourke), and Francis and Bronwyn (Aimoto); cousins Peter Ross (Fran), Anne Ross and David Ross, Michael Breakey (Linda), Alan Breakey (Liz) and Lyn Boyd (Bill); Carol and Andy (Randy) Mooney, Phil (Dianne) and Ross (Marj) McLimont and Louise Brooks and Jack (Jocelyn) Burstall and friend Dan Grigorescu in Romania and many more friends. Predeceased by his brother-in-law, John Butcher.
Chris was born in Montreal and grew up in Quebec City, son of the late Francis Donald and Evelyn Gladys (McLimont) Ross of Quebec City. Chris was an adventurer and Renaissance man, lover of nature and all the world around us, and enthusiastic promoter of electric vehicles.
Cremation at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa and celebrations of life to be arranged later. In memory of Chris, donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society and at-home palliative care near you.
