David Everett BLINCO

It is with profound sadness that the family of David Everett “Coach” Blinco announce his passing in Quebec City on Feb. 17 in his 90th year.
Dave was the beloved husband of Marion Ellen Coleman and father to Christopher (Ruth), Kimberley (Valarie), and Troy (Susan); he was also so very proud of his four grandchildren: the late Jason, Jessica (Robert), Joshua and Matthew. They loved their Grampy so very dearly. He will be missed by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends, and former students.
Dave graduated from Springfield College with a bachelor of science in physical education in 1953. He began his teaching career at St. George’s Elementary. Dave then moved on to Quebec High School and taught physical education and health sciences, devoting countless hours to coaching.
Dave and Marion met early in his career and were married at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in 1956. They were devoted to each other and raised their family together for 64 happy years. Dave was an active member of Trinity Church in Sainte-Foy and countless community organizations.
Dave so enjoyed coaching, fly fishing, golf, curling, bowling and travelling. He loved people and would stop to chat to anyone.
Due to COVID, there will be a private family funeral at Trinity Church. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date, when public health rules relax.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to staff at Maison Michel-Sarrazin and to the homecare staff of Jeffery Hale Community Services, particularly Louise, Kathleen and Rosanne. Special thanks to the staff at Chartwell Appartements de Bordeaux; your professional and compassionate care for Dave was exceptional. Thank you all.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Quebec High School Alumni Association or to Maison Michel-Sarrazin.
