Laurent Dubreuil competes in the men’s 500m division A race during the ISU World Cup Speed Skating at the Olympic Oval in Calgary, Alberta on January 26, 2025. Lévis’ own Laurent Dubreuil is eyeing the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy next February. Dubreuil completed the World Single-Distance Speedskating Championships in Hamar, Norway, with two top-five finishes in the 1000-metre and 500-metre races. Dubreuil, a 500-metre specialist, finished fourth in that event, losing the bronze medal by one-hundredth of a second on March 14. The next day, he finished fifth in the 1000-metre event, only 0.60 seconds behind the gold medallist. Dubreuil closed the 2024-25 season with six medals. (Photo: Dave Holland/Speed Skating Canada)
