Luc Tardif, president of the International Ice Hockey Federation; Marty Walsh, executive director of the NHL Players Association; and Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, announced Feb. 1 that NHL players will participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. They also confirmed the presence of NHL players at the 2030 Games, which are expected to be held in the French Alps. Bettman also stated that the league is open to expansion applications from different cities, including Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Kansas City, Houston, Cincinnati, Omaha, and Quebec City.
