Eye on Sports: World Juniors a holiday tradition

A Canadian tradition during the holidays is to watch the International Ice Hockey Federation men’s world under-20 championship, known as the world juniors. This year’s tournament will be played in Gothenburg, Sweden, from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. Canada will be in a pool with Latvia, Germany, Finland and host Sweden. Seven players from the QMJHL are on Team Canada, including two Quebec goaltenders, a first since 2002. One of them is Mathis Rousseau (above) of the Halifax Mooseheads; the other is Samuel St-Hilaire of the Sherbrooke Phénix. Canada will open the tournament on Dec. 26 against Finland.
