Sadly, we say goodbye to Frances Armstrong (nee Johnston), beloved wife of Gerald Armstrong, who passed away suddenly but peacefully on Nov. 17, 2020 at Saint Brigid’s Home in Quebec City. She was 89.
Frances leaves behind her sister Wilma Mountain, and was predeceased by her brother Clifford Johnston, sister in-law Ruth Johnston and brother-in-law Hugh Mountain.
The love and devotion Frances had for her children – Janet (Neil), Sheila and Peter (Helen) – was always clear to see as was her adoration of her grandchildren, Lucy, Alexander (Vanessa), Jennifer (Tristan), Sarah and James. Her heart would have been bursting with happiness had she been able to enjoy her great-grandchildren Fox and Lion.
Known as Auntie Faf to her nieces and nephews, she will be remembered as being elegant, kind and gentle.
Aside from the sheer pleasure Frances had when spending time with family and friends, her biggest joy was travelling, especially with Wilma and Hugh on excursions to Hawaii. Frances, an avid swimmer, was in her glory swimming in the warm ocean and basking in the sun while thinking about piles of snow back home in Quebec.
We miss her terribly. She will be forever in our hearts and thoughts.
A celebration of life is intended when the pandemic situation allows.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to your local SPCA or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
