A hugely popular place to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, the Pub St-Patrick was closed on March 17 for an indefinite period.

This year, Saint Patrick’s Day was grey, gusty, snowy and rainy – not very conducive to celebrating. For the first time in memory, most local Irish pubs were empty, even closed. The few pedestrians outside on March 17 commented on how Quebec City was a ghost town since self-isolation had been recommended by the federal and provincial governments days prior due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
