“Ito” – as their grandchildren called him – was a very affectionate grandfather. He spent many years of his life caring for his late mother and father, who passed away a few years ago. A famous musician in Peru and Latin America, Fernando was a professional drummer, director and founder of the group Los Doltons, whose debut album, Los Doltons, was released in 1965. He enjoyed tremendous success in his native Peru. He was a passionate musician and percussionist and composed numerous hits in the late 1960s and early ’70s, the most famous of which was the group’s rendition of “El último beso” (“The Last Kiss”), which was re-released on their 1967 album Los Doltons Vol II. An internet search for Los Doltons will give you a taste of his musical talent and full discography.
In his retirement years he enjoyed the concert circuit, playing many venues and concert halls to adoring and nostalgic fans.
