Note from Lorie: James O’Neill (1849-1920) was an Irish-born American theatre actor known for his most famous role, the Count of Monte Cristo, and as the father of playwright Eugene O’Neill. Virginius was a tragedy in five acts, set in ancient Rome, and was written by James Sheridan Knowles (1784-1862).
