The Krampus and St. Nicholas paraded through Old Quebec on the evening of Nov. 30. According to German folklore, the Krampus visits naughty children on Krampusnacht, Dec. 5, to give them a whipping or potatoes and onions. As part of the German Christmas Market, the Krampus and St. Nick appeared in the form of giant marionettes parading from Place D’Youville up Rue Saint-Jean and Côte de la Fabrique.
