Diamants win their second straight LBJEQ title over Longueuil

The Québec Diamants won their second straight title in the Ligue de Baseball Junior Élite du Québec (LBJEQ) with a 6-5 victory over the Longueuil Ducs. The big win in the final days of September ended what was considered an odd season.

The Diamants won the best-of-five series, three games to one.

QMJHL, Remparts start season with a COVID-19 cloud over their heads

Sports season cancellations hurt St. Pat’s and QHS teams

The Québec–Chaudière-Appalaches division of the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) has cancelled the 2020-2021 football and soccer seasons for the region’s high schools due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), which regulates sports activities for the university, collegiate, elementary and high school sectors, confirmed on Sept. 14 that there will be no sports for any of the university teams across the province of Quebec. The RSEQ has agreed, however, that the sports seasons can go ahead for the collegiate and school sectors.

Lions’ Guillaume Dubois wins first RSEQ golf tournament

CEGEP Champlain–St. Lawrence’s Guillaume Dubois shot a round of 70 on Sept. 20 to win the first Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) golf tournament of the year.

‘Mr. Basketball’ Ted Gunn recalls ‘great times’ at former YMCA

A recent story in the QCT about the opening of a new YMCA building in Quebec City stirred the memory of Ted Gunn, a well-known figure in the city’s anglophone community.

Gunn, the driving force, along with his wife Louise, in the preservation and celebration of the city’s Scottish heritage, also has a celebrated history with the YMCA in the town.

RSEQ and Quebec AAA Midget Hockey are back in action

The Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and the Quebec AAA Midget Hockey League have been back in action since Sept. 14, when Premier François Legault confirmed the resumption of extracurricular activities.

Québec Remparts begin their 2020-2021 training camp

The Québec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) started their 2020-2021 training camp on Aug. 31 at the Videotron Centre.

In accordance with the guidelines of the provincial health authorities, the league has allowed all the teams to have a maximum of 34 players at their training camps.
