Dominique Lévesque, #25, convert kicker, was the hero of the game.

On Saturday night, Canada’s most successful football franchise, Université Laval’s Rouge et Or, opened the 2015 season on their home field and reclaimed pride for the team and Quebec City, beating the Montreal Carabins in a very close game, 12-9, the same score by which Montreal eliminated Laval in last Year’s Dunsmore Cup.

The temperature was balmy 25C and 16,000 fans filled the Telus stadium PEPS seats after the country’s best tailgate party.

The game was won on the last play of the game with a three-point convert by rookie Dominic Lévesque, #25, who in his first game also became hero of the game.

Canadian Interuniversity Sports’ winningest coach, Glen Constantin, was all smiles after the game. Named Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2010, he has led the team to seven Vanier Cups.

The Vanier Cup will once again be held here at PEPS in Quebec City on November 28, 2015.
