Terence J. KERWIN
1956-2020

The well-respected and beloved Terence J. Kerwin passed away at the age of 63 at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie (Hôpital Laval), Quebec City, on January 25, 2020. He was the son of the late John Larkin Kerwin and the late Maria Guadalupe Turcot of Quebec City.

He leaves to mourn his wife Marie Blanchet, his children Julia (Alexandre Roy), Cassandra and James, and grandsons Nicholas, Anthony and Jonathan Roy. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Lupita, Alan (Christiane Rouleau), Larkin Jr. (Lyse Lapointe), Rosa Maria (Paul Bender) and Guillermina (Michael Andrews); his uncle and godfather André Turcot (Murielle Lafortune), his aunt Maureen Rowan, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Gregory and Timmothy (Suzanne Ehrhardt).

Terence Kerwin obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from Université Laval, a Master’s degree in Science from Stanford University, and a degree in Strategic Management from Darden Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia. He applied his knowledge and skills in science and business management at CAE Electronics, the Canadian Space Agency, Galvacor Inc., Harfan Technologies Inc., Groupe Altus, ConsuLab and OVA Inc. He also played an important role in various organizations: Association de la Recherche industrielle du Québec (president 2000-2003), Conseil de la Science et de la Technologie du Québec (1996-1999), Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal (Board member 1997-2000), the Order of Engineers of Quebec, and he was named a Fellow of the Order of Engineers of Canada in 2002. He presided over the Engineering External Advisory Board of Concordia University and the Board of Governors of Champlain Regional College. Since 2017, he had been president of the Défilé de la Saint-Patrick de Québec.

The family will receive condolences at the Maison Gomin, Services commémoratifs, at 2026, Boul. René-Lévesque Ouest, Québec, QC, on Friday, February 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m.

The religious funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15 at 11 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Church, 1145 avenue de Salaberry (free parking in the Îlot Saint-Patrick, 2nd level - St. Patrick’s Church section). The family will be present as of 9:45 a.m. at the church to receive condolences.

The family wishes particularly to thank the staff of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of Hôpital Laval for their attentive and devout care of Mr. Kerwin and for their humanism.
