Yet another musical ensemble has announced its program for the 2022-2023 season. On April 29, the Violons du Roy, directed by Jonathan Cohen, gave a free concert for season ticket holders which featured the music of Antonio Vivaldi and highlighted violinists Pascale Gagnon and Noëlla Bouchard, recorder player Caroline Tremblay and bassoonist Mary Chalk in the grand hall of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec’s Pavillon Pierre Lassonde.

Violons du Roy co-directors general Patrice Savoie and Laurent Patenaude highlighted some of the 12 full-length concerts and three mini “Apéro” concerts that will take place at the Palais Montcalm from September to June.

The season opens in spectacular fashion on Sept. 22 with duets and solos from works by George Frideric Handel sung by two of the world’s most dazzling opera singers, renowned contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux and countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, who will give their all for the pleasure of all.

The not-to-be-missed Chemin de Noël concert with the Violons du Roy and the Chapelle de Québec choir will take place on Dec. 23. Keep your eyes and ears open for news of this concert as the free tickets disappear very quickly.

There are still three more concerts on the program during May. For more details, visit the Violons du Roy website at violonsduroy.com/ en/programming. There are many interesting package deals for tickets for the fall season.
