The Grande Virée detours to Baie de Beauport

The stage was set in Quebec City for the Grande Virée des canotiers et canotières. On March 7, under a clear blue sky, a bright sun, with above-zero temperatures, canoers and spectators assembled at Baie de Beauport.

The Défilé de la Saint-Patrick de Québec is pleased to announce that Pauline Bigaouette McCarthy will be Grand Marshal for the parade’s 11th edition. McCarthy is a pioneer and visionary in the cultural, recreational and philanthropic development of the local Irish community.

Jarryd Smith looks like a fitness coach, so it’s no surprise to learn that he is one. Smith, who is 6’2’’, started playing Australian Rules Football (ARF) when he was seven and spent 11 years as a semi-pro player.

The coffee was on and a buzz of conversation in English, French, Spanish, Korean and other languages could be heard in the basement of Quebec Baptist Church (QBC) on Grande Allée on March 6.

First of all, the children went up the other stairs to College Hall rather than into the library.

Secondly, Azanie Roy was not the storyteller, although she was there to meet and greet everyone.

E-bikes on a roll at annual bike show

This could be the year that e-bikes really take off. According to Christian Rodrigue, organizer of the 35th annual Salon Info-Vélo held Feb. 28-March 1 at the cruise ship terminal, “everybody” wants a battery-powered bike.
