Rive-Sud wins! Mission accomplished, Capitale Nationale!

Team Rive-Sud won the 54th Finale des Jeux du Québec! Other great news: the games were deemed “mission accomplished!” In nine days, 3,300 athletes competed for 1,200 medals in 22 sports on 16 different sites – the equivalent of a mini-Olympic Games.

Stoneham hosts Jeux du Québec alpine ski races

Stoneham Ski Resort hosted the Jeux du Québec alpine skiers from March 6 to 8. Fans who wanted to get a good view of the 10 races, however, had to climb a third of the way up the mountain.

Team Capitale-Nationale was the most decorated, with 11 medals: six gold, two silver and three bronze.

Place Casault is on the campus of Université Laval in front of the pavilion named in honour of Louis-Jacques Casault (1808-1862). Casault was a priest, academic, superior of the Séminaire de Québec and the first rector of Université Laval.

Le Diamant theatre project getting ready to sparkle

About four months from its projected completion date, the ambitious Le Diamant “black box” theatre space is more than 70 per cent built. That’s what project officials reported last week at a media event organized to unveil the design of a work of art to adorn the new structure which incorporates the facades of the former YMCA and Cinéma de Paris buildings in Place D’Youville.

Commons hearings offer lessons on real people in government

To paraphrase the prime minister, many lessons have been learned from the SNC-Lavalin affair/controversy/scandal/teapot tempest. Many of those lessons have been civics lessons; so much so that, for those who have been following the thing closely, it’s been kind of like auditing a Canadian Government 101 lecture, with real live players.

It may have been cool outside, but it was “hot” inside the Shannon Community Centre on March 9 as the 53rd edition of the Shannon Irish Show was presented not once, but twice on the same day. The QCT attended the afternoon performance.
