Bowser and Blue’s Laugh Lab leaves ’em laughing

Bowser and Blue were at the Morrin Centre on March 2 to give a workshop on how to create laughter through musical comedy. With their no-holds-barred humour and musical talent, they kept their audience entertained and edified all evening.

The Provincial Winter Finals of the Association de Derby d’Attelage du Québec 2018-2019 took place in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier on March 2. Horses, drivers and spectators took advantage of this beautiful, mild day, a nice change from February’s snow and -30 C temperatures.

Violons du Roy promise another fantastic season

The day after Jonathan Cohen led Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec in a performance of Haydn’s The Creation, executive director Hugo Sanschagrin and artistic administrator Laurent Patenaude, along with conductor Cohen, presented the orchestra’s program for the 2019-2020 season.

The story behind Avenue des Cent-Associés


This street is named after La Compagnie des Cent-Associés, or Company of the One Hundred Associates, a French trading and colonization company chartered by Cardinal Richelieu in 1627. It was founded both to capitalize on the North American fur trade and to expand French colonies which were at that time centred on the St. Lawrence River valley and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

No easy fix to dubious traffic problems

Among the many blessings in my life, I have almost never had to negotiate heavy traffic to get to or from school or work. At university, having frozen various body parts waiting for the bus to get to class, I swore I would buy a car with the first pay cheque when I got a job after graduation. I bought the car but didn’t have to drive it to that job.

Eastern Townships and Lanaudière win the duets in artistic swimming

Synchronized swimming, referred to by the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) as “artistic swimming” since 2017, is a hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers performing a synchronized routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music.

From March 1 to 9, some 3,000 young athletes from across the province are gathered in Quebec City to compete in the 22 disciplines of the 54th Finale des Jeux du Québec.
