It was an emotional journey for David McNeil as he recounted the life of one of the greatest goalies in Canadian hockey – not because it was a hockey player’s life but because it was his dad’s life.

Champlain–St. Lawrence student and teachers bare their heads for Leucan

On April 28, Champlain–St. Lawrence French teacher Suzanne Lemay organized the sixth annual Leucan Shaved Head Challenge. This year, two teachers and one student raised over $3,400 to help families and children fighting cancer by “baring it all.”

Drama and opera at the Musée de la Civilisation

In cooperation with Le Clap movie theatre, the Musée de la Civilisation on Rue Dalhousie in Old Quebec is presenting a series of grand operas filmed at the Royal Opera House, and plays filmed at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, England. The films will be presented in the museum’s Roland-Arpin auditorium.

The story behind Rue Loyola

Rue Loyola is named after the patron saint of the parish where it is located in the Beauport district of Quebec City. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) was the founder of the Compagnie de Jésus (Society of Jesus). A Spanish knight from a Basque noble family, in 1521 Ignatius of Loyola aspired to become an apostle of Christ.

24 Hours of Science for all


24 Hours of Science is a full day of science and technology activities for audiences of all ages across the province. The event starts at noon on Friday, May 6, continues into the evening, and ends at noon on Saturday, May 7.

CBC radio host Susan Campbell invited current and former colleagues Tim Belford, Peter Tardif, Marika Wheeler, Glen Wanamaker, Nick Gamache, Kim Garrity and Elias Abboud to reminisce about the career of producer Peter Black on the day of his retirement, Friday, April 29.

Military community volunteers enjoy a Murder Mystery Dinner

On April 29, volunteers and their guests gathered for a Murder Mystery Dinner at CFB Valcartier’s Centre Castor. As each guest entered the hall, fingerprints were taken, setting the mood for the evening. From that moment on, all the guests were suspects, wondering what crime they had committed.
