The Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph has teamed up with American search engine giant Google to make our archives – the oldest of any newspaper’s in North America – available free of charge to the world.
Using Google’s news archive search technology, Internet surfers will be able to consult over 200 years of QCT back issues.

Hilton, Loews strike deal with workers, end labour dispute
Hotel workers at the Hilton Hotel and the Loews Concorde Hotel in Quebec voted in large majorities on August 29 to accept contracts from their employers.
The employees’ acceptance of the proposed contract has resolved a labour conflict that lasted nearly four months.

When he departs for the Gaspé this week, Pierre Therrien will be fulfilling a centuries-old English Canadian tradition, though it’s relatively new to French-speaking Quebec. The Canadian Bible Society (CBS) director will be canvassing in the Gaspé’s English-protestant communities in order to raise funds for the society’s Christian publications.
